Ashita 3 Guide - FFXI
Ashita version 3 is an alternative to Windower that some players may prefer to use as their launcher. While there are pros and cons to both Windower and Ashita, one handy feature of the newest version of Ashita is that it comes ready to access to private servers. Below is a quick and dirty guide to Ashita (not extensive) for those who would like to give it a try.
Step 1 - Download the most current version of Ashita 3 http://ashita.atom0s.com/
Step 2 - Once downloaded, follow the instructions to fully install Ashita on your PC. It's relatively straightforward, so if you were able to complete all of the FFXI install steps and updates so far, you should be fine.
Step 3a - Create a Profile for Expedition Gaming. Open Ashita at the bottom you will see a tool bar that consists of a plus sign, pen/pencil, trash can, update icon, and a link icon. When you place you mouse over the plus sign, it should say "New Configuration". Click the plus sign to create a new profile.
Step 3b - Input server data. You will find that you have defaulted to the "Boot" menu.
Put "Expedition Gaming" under under the heading "Configuration Name".
Under Boot Configurations, there are three subheadings. Fill out as follows:
File: .\\ffxi-bootmod\\pol.exe
Command: –server expeditiongaming.ddns.net
Script: Default.txt
Save this by clicking the little page with a check mark icon at the bottom of the application.
Step 3c (optional) - Adjust the Window settings for a widescreen monitor. If you have upgraded to a fancy widescreen monitor like I have, you will want to adjust the window settings. You need to click the Window icon on the left hand side of the application. This will take you to the Window settings. In order to play in full-screen mode without any menu issues, use the following configurations:
Window Configurations. Check off Windowed Mode (first option) and Unhook Mouse (third/last option).
Window Resolutions.
Window Size 1920 x 1080
Startup Position: -1 x -1
Background Size 4096 x 4096
Menu Size: 1920 x 1080

Step 4 - Create a desktop shortcut for Expedition Gaming. After you have saved your settings, navigate back to the main menu. Single click (if you double click you will launch the game) the Expedition Gaming title from your Ashita list; you just want "Expedition Gaming" highlighted with the red box around it. Click the little link icon on the lower right corner. This will allow you to create a shortcut that will automatically activate the DarkStar bootloader. From here, either create a new account on the server or log into your existing one. Enjoy!
